Snapping Africa

This is just to get to know my new camera a Nikon D90. I am endeavouring to challenge myself in adding one photo daily for the rest of the year. I do live in an interesting part of Africa, Tete, Mozambique where lots is going on and happening. Enjoy

you can find some really strange things whilst walking in the bush around here......We happened upon a burial site with bleached skulls, skeletons and food offerings......

The gold panner and her son. Very tough, back breaking work in the hot Tete sun and sometimes only yielding 1 gram of gold per day if lucky.....Of course, this doesnt help the rivers and the surrounding countryside..............

May your Sunday be filled with desire, not for the things you think you want but for the unseen things of God. (Emily, Chatting at the sky)

About Me

My photo
snappingafrica2
Now I am back in a slightly more "civilized" country....... far away from the wide open spaces and exciting daily adventures, but I can hope I can continue to show you the beauty from this very populated little Island, Mauritius, just a speck in the Indian Ocean....

  • took this amazing sunset last night...........doesnt it look as if the horizion is "on fire"??? smoke and all, absolutley no editing done on this photo :)

  • this photograph was not taken by myself, but by a friend in Tete.........Rich Yiend. Thought it too amazing not to share. Crocs are the cause of a lot of deaths in Tete. Some say one person per month is taken and others one per week. Who knows in Africa, the stories just get juicier by the day :) All daily household duties and more, are done in the Zambezi, so therefore the risks are high........
