This is just to get to know my new camera a Nikon D90. I am endeavouring to challenge myself in adding one photo daily for the rest of the year.
I do live in an interesting part of Africa, Tete, Mozambique where lots is going on and happening. Enjoy

"He who is grateful for little is given much laughter… and it’s counting the ways He loves, this is what multiplies joy." We celebrated Thanksgiving with our new American friends this past weekend, was so much fun :) It's something we need to celebrate everyday, giving thanks in ALL things :) so much happens inwardly (and outwardly) when we choose JOY and THANKS despite all.........

The gorgeous almost ballerina like Baobab flower opens at dusk, just on sunset. The whole process of the bud slowly splitting open to reveal the the white, creamy flower, takes around an hour. The flowers really stand out in the dark, which are Bat pollinated, so therefore can be seen from quite a way. The flower, sadly, only lasts for one night and starts deteriorating rapidly as the sun rises. I managed to take a snap of this one early in the morning, but think it is past it's prime. My next goal is to be able to record and watch a bud opening.......An African folklore .......... "anyone who dares pick a flower will be eaten by a lion"........eeeeeek glad there are no lions around Tete, infact sadly, not much game at all :(

this might not be an incredible photograph but believe it has a story to tell me (and maybe you)......... I was focusing on the amazing "technicoloured" sunset, but it's only when I downloaded it onto my computer, that I noticed the bird! "I might be looking for and at the "noticeable" things of life, but HE is always there, softly, gently, unobtrusivley, guiding me. Not seen, but very much there........May you all have a glorious weekend, we have much to give thanks for........

every corner turned on the Might Zambezi offers a different story on the banks
Sunday is wash day on the banks
the gorgeous Ilala palms, which I adore painting.......
cattle and goats enjoying the little bit of green grass that grows on the banks. Its only dirt and rocks away from the river, am surprised they actually survive........
